The Off-Season Weekly Cups started last week and many teams participated, both new squads from the community, as well as aspiring high-tier teams. With several community casters joining in on covering these events, it has been a successful and fun first week of the off-season. Now before we move on to the new events of this week, let's take a look at each of those tournaments and see how they went and who won:

5v5 Cup

Strong teams joined this event, as it promised a chance to get into the next King of the Hill tournament. Teams like [YLTP]You Love To Party, [tree]willowkeeper, [oXz]oXzone eSports and [TF]Twisted Fuzion signed up quickly for this and all had high hopes of making it to the finals. However, things did not go as expected for some of the known squads. Twisted Fuzion, for example, did not make it beyond round three, where they were kicked out by [PubV]Public Virgins. willowkeeper also kept it low, moving to the fourth round before being ousted by [THNK]thinkQUICK v2. You Love To Party had smooth sailing at first, defeating two teams and getting free wins due to other teams not showing up, but in the semifinals on Saturday they encountered [GxGT]Gx gaming and lost in a 0-2 sweep. Now this might have been a surprise, but Gx gaming already made an impact late in the second season of HoN Tour; there they became the Gold Division Champions in Cycle 10 after a quick ride through the lower brackets, and now here they would succeed against good teams once more, moving on to the Finals with few problems.

Their opponent in the Finals turned out to be the only big team left, oXzone eSports - once known as DONKEKONG. They had managed to get through all rounds in one piece and were eager to get some payback for that loss in the Gold Grand Finals against Gx gaming in the last cycle of HoN Tour. It did not go well for the former monkeys, as Gx gaming made short work of them once more, winning the Finals 2-0, becoming the Champions of the first 5v5 Cup, and earning a shot at the King of the Hill event this Tuesday. Congrats!

NA Cup

As expected, this Midwars Cup for our American players was a bit smaller than a tournament with competitive rules would have likely been, yet we still saw some good action here. The tournament quickly moved into the semifinals, but here we really got to see some intense Midwars action. [BUX]Big Bux Money Crew and [VIPD]VIP Disco were the first two teams to lock horns and they delivered a three game match that left little to be desired. In the end, VIP Disco moved on to the Finals, but the BUXies certainly made it exciting. The other semi-finals was between [PLUR]wang big noob and [vMSv]Magikarp Splash. Here the result was clear; wang big noob won both games, going into the Finals with a 2:0 victory over Magicarp Splash. When the two winner teams finally clashed in the Finals that evening, it was VIP Disco who were successful once more. Their intense battle in the last match must have given them the motivation and practice they needed, as they left nothing to chance in this 2:0 victory. And with this, VIP Disco are the first NA Cup Champions! Congrats!

Variety Cup

The Midwars cup for the europeans and everyone who like variety, this Cup was more of a fun event for the teams that signed up, among them oXzone eSports, hoping to get some extra practice, not to mention the raw fun of it. Sadly, they were unable to make it and so it was left to lesser known teams to win this tournament. Once more the action really started in the semifinals, when [OoO]Repoooooooooooort met with [NR1]Team Alpha and [BUX]Big Bux Money Crew, who were hoping to have more success here than they had in the NA Cup, faced [PaPa]PeonsAndPeasantsArmy. Team Alpha was victorious in their match and moved on to the Finals, where the BUXies were already waiting for them - both teams had defeated their semi-finals opponents with a clear 2-0 and were now ready for a slugfest of epic proportions - exactly what midwars was designed to be. And they did what they could to have exactly that, a three game match with tons of action. In the end, the practice and persistence of the Big Bux Money Crew paid off and they won the third and final game, ending the Finals 2-1 and making them the Champions of the first Variety Cup. Congrats!

Week 2

Now that all the action from last week has ended, it is time to see what's in store for us this week. We will have the weekly cups again, of course, and sign-ups are live now here[/b], so if you want some action, get your teams together and join in! And this Tuesday we will see another episode of the King of the Hill event, this time with [SynC]Sync eSports going up against the 5v5 Cup Champions [GxGT]Gx gaming. It will be quite interesting to see these two teams clash, as both teams had no problems at all in HoN Tour Season 2 to move through all the Divisions with ease and leave their opponents behind. Sync esports is of course the favourite team here, as they are one of the best teams in the world and they have had so much practice in the last months, but no team should underestimate their opponents - a mistake that has proven to be the downfall of teams in the past. On Thursday then we will see the winner of that match take on stayGreen in the attempt to claim the crown. As you can see, this week will bring a lot of action once more, and this is only the beginning. Make sure to tune in to Honcast for the King of the Hill matches, starting Tuesday and Thursday both at 12:00 EDT | 18:00 CEST. Also don't forget to check out our community casters covering the weekly Cups, starting this Thursday. Good Luck and Have Fun everyone!
