It has been a busy weekend in all of the HoN Tour Divisions and while Diamond Division has gotten plenty of action and most of the attention, the Gold Division has also advanced quite a bit, although with less eyes on them. But Gold Division has always been worth keeping an eye on, as big teams often had to pass through it in order to get to Diamond and new stars were born here. In fact almost all of the top players in the Diamond Division right now have spent at least a Cycle in Gold Division at one time, including ex Sync eSports. What makes the Gold Division especially interesting right now is that during the Qualifiers, many strong teams got eliminated early on and sent to the Gold Division, which in turn makes for an amazing bracket and some tough and high level matchups right from the start. And after four rounds of these matches, a few teams remain, who will fight hard in the coming weekend for the two Relegation spots that will open up next Tuesday and Thursday.

One of the favourites to make it there is clearly [DARG]Russian Dargons, the kind of all star team with the close calls during the Qualifiers. So far everything has been going according to plan and they moved through the Winners Bracket quickly, eliminating [MAR]Me Are Rus among other teams and now standing in the Winner’s Bracket finals, where they face [MysT]The Mystery Gang, another team that was a favourite to make it into Diamond during the Qualifiers, but got shot down eventually. The Mystery Gang too had no problems getting here, even though they had tough matchups to play, [Hex]Polymorph, [Day1]Daydreamin aka Ringers and [Dawn]Dawn all tried to stop the Mystery Gang but were defeated soundly. This triple triumph makes the Mystery Gang look a bit stronger right now and they will go into the match on Saturday with confidence, but the Winners Bracket Finals is a guaranteed entry to the Relegation matches and the Russian Dargons will most certainly fight with tooth and claw to win themselves.

In the Losers Bracket, four teams are still left. [Ogr]Shrek is Love moved here rather quickly after losing to Me Are Rus in the second round, but could recover and have been victorious ever since. Their opponent for Saturday afternoon will be Dawn, who were just placed here after the loss against The Mystery Gang. Both teams seem strong and motivated, so either team can win and advance. Another delicious setup is the second match in that round, Daydreamin aka ex Ringers versus Me Are Rus. While the daydreaming all star team may seem like the team to bet on in this, it would be unwise to underestimate Me Are Rus. MAR took out Shrek is Love earlier in the Winner’s Bracket and the team has been improving in all aspects recently. Seems that their time in the spotlight has awakened hidden ambitions and they are now trying to get back to the top league and have another go at the pros.

Three of these six teams will be eliminated this Saturday in the next two rounds, starting with the Losers Bracket matches at 12:00 EDT |18:00 CEST, followed by the Winners Bracket Match as well as the next round of the Losers Bracket just a few hours later at 15:00 EDT |21:00 CEST. And on Sunday, one of the remaining teams will have to drop out and try again next Cycle, while the remaining two fight for the better spot in the Relegation Matches. I am sure these matches will be closely monitored by some of the Diamond Division teams as well, if time allows, as the winners may be their future opponents. In any case, it will be exciting, so Good Luck and Have Fun to all the remaining teams!
