[FnoH]FROG No HIPPO are one of the last teams who made it into the Playoffs, making it to seed #12 overall, and many people probably never heard about them unless they met them in the past eight cycles of Season 3 in either the Gold or Silver Division. As the third American team in the Playoffs, these guys can be considered to be somewhat exotic and to get to know them better, we sat down for an interview of the unusual kind, having the whole team answer the questions together. Here is the result:
BlahC: Hello guys! You are one of the rather unknown teams in the mix of the Playoffs, please introduce yourselves.
Hippos: We are Frog No Hippo, a US team formed to casually compete Hon Tour Season 3 for fun. We are the highest ranked co-ed team. Our team consists of [BETA]BigBigDik, [BOHO]BoarBeater, [Snsl]DummyYummy, [Snsl]StupidStu, [gL]pishie, and last minute sub [sG]Narcy. We also like to be known as MidRomney, BoarBaiter, shorkan’s biggest fan who got to play with him and swooned, quincy co-caster who never stops eating, old asian guy, and best sub.
What is your teams history? Where have you played before?
Started as a casual team just to see what we could do, then we qualified for Gold right off the bat. Known for unconventional picks and lanes in qualifiers (Chipper, Bramble, Gladiator, Nomad, dual lane Pharaoh). We also got Klanx banned for a few cycles - oops.
BYour logo is the cutest of all in current HoN, how did it come to life? And is there a story behind the teamname?
ONE PIECE
You have played mostly in Gold Division and some in Silver Division this season, how did it go from your point of view?
I think the team as a whole was very inconsistent. There were times where we had roster issues and didn’t have enough players available to show up for our Gold matches resulting in demotions to Silver. Once we figured out a strategy that we play well we tried to perfect it as a team. Our team isn’t the best individually skilled but we do shine when we work together.
Were you surprised you made it into the Playoffs?
We did not expect to make it to playoffs with so little points, but we have beaten some other teams that also made it so we fit in. BMG dropping out was a surprise to us.
Starting in the Losers Bracket of the Playoffs seems to be a hard task, especially against a good team like Team Who. Did you prepare?
As a team, we hope for the best and prepare for the worst. For the most part we played some TMM and “got our feeds out” so to speak. Hence, we have Narcy as a sub just in case. He has fed way harder than us so I’m not sure if that means he’ll play better or worse.
How do you see your chances to go further? Will we see Hippos in the Finals?
Hippos: I hope so but really we’re just playing for the fun of it. If we do make it to the Finals it will 100% be from our boarbaiting.
Apart from your own team, who do you think has the best chances to get into the Final Four? And who will win the World Finals?
Personally I think that Reason Gaming has the best chance to get into the Final Four and some Garena team who will pick Winston Charmadon every game will undoubtedly win the World Finals because they exercise restraint. However, the draft and play style innovations from Tree and their excellence with Veiled Rot could take them far.
You are one of the few American teams active right now. Is this your time to dominate and take over? After all you are now basically at the same level as Night Raid, even further if you win.
Damn straight.
Any shoutouts?
Shoutout to Quincy, Cyrus, Green, Mike, Bryce, Bramble, Katagon, Hoowert, EU teams who don’t think we’re USW, Inklin and the fabled bermuda triangle server that has 0 lag for all regions.
As you can see this team is pretty entertaining even before the circus starts, so watching them this Saturday 12:00 EST | 18:00 CET on Honcast is going to be quite the treat despite the seriousness of the tournament.Their opponents for the evening, [Hoo]Team Who, better watch out or they'll be in for a tough time so close before the finishing line. And who knows, maybe we are going to witness the birth and baptism of the next American powerhouse in HoN, it would certainly make things more interesting once they run into [Null]Nullstone Gaming. So good luck, little Hippos, and don't eat too much before the match!
