Gold Division Cycle 5 is here and we’ve seen some new developments in the teams participating and competing. This Cycle should be most interesting to see how teams place in the end. With the new addition of Silver Divisionpromotions including [MOE]Moes Tavern, [hade]HAVE IT, [DASH]Rainbow Racers and [wO]Wards Overrated, we see new and familiar faces alike back in Gold. The pressure is on them to stay in this division and try their best to learn as they try to advance to the Diamond Division, just as we saw [DonD]DoberOnDamp make their way up.

The addition of the teams from Diamond will make it harder for all teams to progress, with [FyKu]Fack You Kurdi and [vtL]Vitriolic Gaming both disbanding and then combining to reform [Ff20]FyKu 2pt0. We will see a combination of two strong teams lead by gwefix. He is also joined by old vtL member FearTheZap and three FyKu members VnSensation, PinkyKurdi, and Pewe`. I was able to ask gwefix a bit about what exactly happened with the events leading up to this team merge.

"Basically since vtL decided to disband after a horrible performance last Cycle and FyKu disbanding as well due to internal conflicts I was looking for something new to compete in HoN Tour," FyKu 2pt0 captain gwefix said. "miikeys was nice enough to give me captain of the vtL team so I got in contact with some of the FyKu guys and decided to give it a go."

Of course, the first thing that comes to mind with a brand new team is their ability to play at a high level together because synergy is so important which only comes with time and practice.

"We didn't get a chance to practice though because VnSensation's internet was lagging until recently," Gwefix replied.

Not being able to practice can greatly hurt a team’s performance, as we have seen what happened with [Pika]Pikachu in Cycle 4 after being unable to practice together the week before. Looking ahead, I asked what his thoughts and plan were for entering Gold Cycle 5.

"Well of course I want to do well and get to Diamond but I'm not sure if that's realistic. Since I've played in Gold before, I know there's some strong teams in there so it won't be easy, that's for sure," gwefix continued with his realistic approach. "As I said, we don't really have a lot of practice but we're hoping to get some scrims in before the Cycle starts tomorrow. Although the guys from FyKu have good synergy since they've all played together for a long time, I'm really not so sure how well we'll do."

From my perspective, I agree with the way gwefix feels about the situation. The brackets are going to be rough this Cycle and it could come down to matchups for the teams hoping to advance.

Pikachu, [PUDG]Dendis jungldevos, [QsQ7]QsQ 777, [C1K]Call It Karma and FyKu 2pt0 are the top candidates for advancement. Plus we may see some other teams have success, such as HAVE IT, who made it to Gold again after a forfeit first round in Cycle 3 and [Due1]Do You Even Lift who were demoted to Gold at the end of Diamond in Cycle 2. Other rising teams are [WSD]Slash Defenders, [cTi]Perfection Esp, [BLZE]Team Blazin EU, and the newly named [CM]Clan Milk (formerly Endemic). Personally I'm hoping that [pCe]GgnoRe was fun will be able to fill their 5th spot as CaKeS has had a hard time getting people to show up with his team.

In the end, we will see who comes out on top after this weekend with all the new teams contending for the top four.

[CM]Clan Milk

[f20]FyKu 2pt0

Good luck to all competitors this weekend.
